CROATIA DEFEATS PHILIPPINES BY ONLY 3PTS.

POWERS HOUSE CROATIA DEFEATS PHILIPPINES

81-78 Win Croatia against Philippines , I think Philippines won the
game because last shot of Jeff Chan before OT should be a foul therefore
three free throws should be given to the Philippines for the win.
And again there should be a double OT because the last shot of Jason Castro
is also a foul but referee didn't call again.

GILAS , TINYENTE TENORIO

ANG TINYENTE NG BARANGAY AT NG GILAS

Gilas Pilipinas: LA Tenorio

LA Tenorio is almost always the shortest man on the court, but he is a proven leader who knows when to pile up the points or dish off to get teammates going.
After graduating from Ateneo de Manila University, Tenorio, 30, of Batangas was selected fourth by the San Miguel Beermen in 2006, where he played until being traded to the Alaska Aces in 2008. Tenorio now calls the shots for Barangay Ginebra, where he was traded in 2012.
He was named 2012 Jones Cup MVP as he scored 20 points to lead the Philippine team past USA select team to win the tournament for the first time since 1998. Tenorio also led Ginebra to a runner-up finish in the 2013 PBA Commissioner’s Cup after Mark Caguioa went down with a knee injury.
Tenorio is no doubt one of the top point guards in the Philippines. He can get his teammates going with his passing ability but is also not shy to take and make shots if necessary. His toughest challenge will be defending the bigger guards of opposing teams.

JAPETH AGUILAR , GILAS PILIPINAS

GET TO KNOW JAPETH AGUILAR

Japeth Aguilar is unquestionably the most athletic big man on the Gilas roster. The Pampanga native is capable of bringing the crowd to its feet with one electrifying dunk or blocked shot.
The 27-year-old began his collegiate career with the Ateneo Blue Eagles before transfering to the United States to play for the Division I school Western Kentucky University. Aguilar was selected number 1 overall by the Burger King Burging Whoppers in the 2009 PBA Draft.
Alongside LA Tenorio, Aguilar is one of two Barangay Ginebra players on the Gilas squad. Aguilar has matured since he first began playing for the Philippine national team in the 2009 FIBA Asia Championship.
Though he no longer seems to look to score on dunks alone, he does appear to be too eager at times but has shown he can play under control. Despite his athletic gifts, Aguilar has a wiry frame which could work to his disadvantage when other bigs back him down in the post.

NEWEST DYNAMIC DUO

LeBron and Love are the NBA's newest dynamic duo

LeBron James' return to the Cleveland was completed on Saturday withthe official arrival of Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Love joins James and point guard Kyrie Irving to form a new version of the "Big 3" James had with the Miami Heat, but all eyes appear to be on what James and Love will do once united on an NBA court.
It is entirely possible James and Love will help Irving and the Cavaliers run roughshod over a weak Eastern Conference, but the jury is out on whether this new high-powered roster will lead to championship rings.
Nate Silver of 538 believes the addition of James and Love to Cleveland's roster puts the Cavaliers around 65 expected wins. The combination of James and Love accounts for 37 of those wins:
That figure reflects an over-under line. I might take the under if offered it by Vegas for a couple of reasons. One, the projection assumes the Cavaliers stay relatively healthy, and there’s no guarantee of that. Second, the Cavaliers are so clearly ahead of anyone else in the Eastern Conference — especially with the injury to Indiana’s Paul George — that they might rest their stars or coast down the stretch. That could help them in the playoffs, where rest matters quite a bit, but could shave a couple of wins off their regular-season record.
Jose De Leon of ESPN Stats & Info believes the addition of Love will make James an even better scorer from inside the paint. De Leon argues that Love is an improvement over Chris Bosh when it comes to perimeter shooting and that will lead to more space in the paint for James:
James’ field goal percentage inside the paint got better every year in Miami. One thing you could point at for his improved shooting is the growth of Chris Bosh’s three-point shooting.

In his first season with Miami, Bosh shot 24.0 percent (6-25) from beyond the arc, the second lowest percentage of his career. Last year, he had career highs in makes (74) and attempts (218) and shot a respectable 33.9 percent.

If Bosh’s three-point shooting played a role in James posting a career-high field goal percentage from inside the paint, wait until Kevin Love hits the court alongside him with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
David Thorpe of ESPN says the Cavaliers secret weapon is speed. He believes Cleveland will find success through a quick transition game and even quicker passes, as well as giving players the green light to take open shots:
Having great shooters combined with great passers, the world's best player (and possibly its best athlete), and one of the top rebounders the game has ever seen gives the Cavs a multitude of offensive options. The key will be just how fast they choose to play. The Spurs looked like surgeons during much of the 2014 NBA playoffs. And they are champions now. The Suns had the "sexiest" team in pro sports during a large stretch of the 2000s, routinely winning 50-plus games and doing so in fun fashion.
This Cleveland team could very well have more offensive talent than either of those squads and could end up being just as effective or better -- only if it doesn't give defenders a chance to breathe.
But Thomas Johnson of the Washington Post reminds us Cleveland will have its share of weaknesses as well, especially on defense. Johnson says "mediocre doesn't begin to describe Love’s help defense" and posits the Cavaliers' perimeter defense will be just as bad as it was last season:
The downside of trading Andrew Wiggins is that he may have been their best perimeter defender outside of the 29-year-old James. Without Wiggins, the defensive burden will again fall on James’s shoulders, and wear aside, his defense regressed last season.
James led Miami to four consecutive Finals trips, due in large part to Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh being above average defenders at their positions and as a result, the Heat was consistently one of the best defensive teams in the league. The same cannot be said about Irving, Love and the rest of the Cavaliers. Many casual fans and pundits are already predicting that the Cavaliers will come out of the Eastern Conference, but given the lack of defense, it will have its hands full stopping even average offenses.

Rose in, Lillard out for US basketball roster

NEW YORK (AP) -- The U.S. national basketball team has kept Derrick Rose and cut Damian Lillardand three others, getting its roster down to 12 before the FIBA World Cup of Basketball.
Kyle Korver, Gordon Hayward and Chandler Parsons also were cut early Saturday morning, shortly after the Americans beat Puerto Rico 112-86 in their final exhibition game before leaving for Spain.
Team officials had previously said they might bring more than 12 players on the trip, but coach Mike Krzyzewski said after the game he wanted to get down to 12, the maximum allowable for the World Cup rosters.
Rose was expected to make the team if he was healthy enough after missing most of the last two seasons following two knee surgeries.
The rest of the roster is: Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, DeMarcus Cousins, Klay Thompson, Andre Drummond, Rudy Gay, DeMar DeRozan, Kenneth Faried and Mason Plumlee.

MELO,KNICKS BACK IN THE PLAYOFFS?

Carmelo Anthony: Knicks will 'absolutely' be back in the playoffs

After missing out on the postseason for the first time in his 11-year career last season, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is certain he won't be on the outside looking in next season.
When asked about the Knicks' chances of making the playoffs, Anthony answered defiantly.
"Yeah, I think so for sure," Anthony told the New York Post. "Absolutely."
The Knicks narrowly missed the playoffs last season, falling just one game short of the Atlanta Hawks for the eighth seed in a historically weak Eastern Conference. In a season of perpetual turmoil, Anthony posted excellent statistical numbers, but his team managed a putrid record of 37-45.
This offseason, the Knicks have undergone a sizeable rebuild, swapping out former head coach Mike Woodson with rookie bench boss Derek Fisher. The organization also hired Phil Jackson to handle personnel decisions, and shipped out starters Raymond Felton and Tyson Chandler for Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert and other assorted young players.
The problem for the Knicks, however, is that the core pieces, along with a huge hole on defense, still remain. The root of both problem is their frontcourt, where the same hapless (and overpaid) duo of Andrea Bargnani and Amar'e Stoudemire remain entrenched as immobile holdovers. The Knicks ranked 24th in defensive efficiency last season thanks in large part to Bargani and Stoudemire, who are both poor defenders. Shedding a former Defensive Player of the Year in Chandler and adding a perimeter sieve in Calderon is also a worry.
But Anthony is a top-talent, and if his well-chronicled offseason weight loss amounts to a career year, he could easily carry the Knicks back to the postseason.

KYRIE HOLD'S THE KEY TO LEBRON'S NEW KINGDOM

How Kyrie Irving Holds the Key to LeBron James' New Kingdom

But after the busiest summer in franchise history, he's faded from headlines and almost instantly became his team's second or third scoring option. While it's tempting to believe this will be the season of LeBron James and Kevin Love, we shouldn't be so quick to overlook what's sure to be a pivotal role for Irving.
The last time Irving was in the news, he was signing a near-max extension with the organization after averaging 20.8 points and a career-high 6.1 assists per game last season.
Since then, the 22-year-old's future with the franchise has been overshadowed by two key developments.
First, James announced his return to Cleveland in July after his talents enjoyed four celebrated seasons with the Miami Heat. It was an instant game-changer for a club that spent those four seasons missing the playoffs and undergoing a protracted rebuild.
"At first you were speechless; you couldn't believe it," Irving said, according to CBSSports.com's Ken Berger. "I've been watching LeBron for a while now and now that I'm going to be running alongside him and being his point guard, it's an honor and hopefully we can do great things."
Second, it's become all but certain that disaffected Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love will soon join the Cavaliers.
Earlier in August, Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported, "The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement in principle to send All-Star forward Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Andrew WigginsAnthony Bennett and a protected 2015 first-round draft pick, league sources told Yahoo Sports."
Welcome to the charmed life of a franchise that has a four-time MVP on its side.
With all the new firepower, Irving's production is likely to drop to some degree, along with his ball-handling and playmaking duties. James will often have the ball in his hands instead, and Love immediately becomes Cleveland's go-to three-point shooter.
Irving becomes a very capable sidekick from the outset, initiating some offense while also seeing increased time off the ball.
As CBSSports.com's Zach Harper explains, "Irving could be in a similar role as Wade was with James, but we also have to remember this is under [Cavs head coach] David Blatt and not [Heat head coach] ErikSpoelstra. The offensive system could and will likely be different."
Indeed, Blatt will use elements of the Princeton offense in Cleveland, ensuring that ball and player movement take precedence over isolation-based play.
According to that model, there should be plenty of touches to go around, regardless of the recently incorporated star power.
Nevertheless, Irving should become increasingly comfortable in a catch-and-shoot role. He ranked third among point guards last season with a 27.8 usage rate, and those touches will be fewer and occur more sparingly this season.
"You do think about [changes] because you're going to be playing with the greatest player in the game," Irving told reporters (via ESPN) during Team USA training camp. "I've talked to several teammates about how we're going to have to change our games."
Irving led the Cavaliers with 17.4 field-goal attempts per game last season. By contrast, James' sidekick, Dwyane Wade, attempted just 14.1 shots per game—a figure that may be more in line with what Irving can expect going forward.
The parallels with Wade are important, in part because they also hint at how vital Irving will remain to Cleveland's title chances.
Even with James leading the way for Miami, there were never any doubts about Wade's importance. Though the 32-year-old's 19 points per game last season were the lowest since his rookie year, those were also the most efficient points Wade had scored in his 11 seasons. He posted a career-high 54.5 field-goal percentage.
The more perimeter-oriented Irving made just 43 percent of his field-goal attempts last season, and—while he'll remain an essential three-point threat—there's plenty of room for the young floor general to become more judicious with his possessions.
He'll also need to improve his play on the defensive end. James' presence will help in that regard.
"I think James will have a real impact on Kyrie Irving and Love – if he goes there," said ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy, per Northeast Ohio Media Group's Tom Reed. "You need a real commitment to defense if you're going to win (a title). I think James knew that from his time in Cleveland and he certainly knew it from his time in Miami. He will bring that experience and defensive mindset back to Cleveland."
Van Gundy added, "Defense is about commitment, resolve, discipline and an ability to concentrate. The pressure is going to be exerted by James. He is in his prime and they have a chance to win so as a player you don't want to not play up to your potential defensively."
Especially not if you're Irving, an emerging star who's yet to prove himself a legitimate two-way presence.
The San Jose Mercury NewsTim Kawakami wrote in June, "Irving might not be the pound-for-pound, minute-for-minute, mistake-for-mistake worst defensive player in the league. He’s assuredly way up there, but probably not Numero Uno."
Kawakami added, "It takes something special to stand out as a bad defensive player amid all of Irving’s wobbly defensive teammates on the Cavaliers. Yet he keeps doing it."
Given that Love has received his fair share of criticism on the defensive end, Irving's work is cut out for him. Cleveland won't have any difficulty scoring the ball, but it desperately needs James' defensive prowess to become infectious.
Irving's individual defense will become an instant barometer signaling whether any osmosis has taken place. Without an improved effort, James' patience with his young teammate could be tested early and often.
LeBron is once again the face of this franchise, and Love will soon be its second-most accomplished contributor.
But Irving may well determine how quickly the Cavaliers compete for a championship. While he's no longer the biggest name around town, his critical importance endures.

MARION BACK UP JAMES

Shawn Marion joining LeBron James

Free-agent forward Shawn Marion has committed to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to league sources.
Sources told ESPN.com that Marion informed the Cavaliers this weekend that he intends to sign with them this month, despite the fact that Cleveland can only offer him a minimum deal.
[+] EnlargeMarion/James
AP Photo/Tony GutierrezShawn Marion will be joining forces with LeBron James in Cleveland, according to sources.
The chance to play with LeBron Jamesand immediately compete for a championship, sources said, clinched Marion's decision to choose Cleveland in the face of a ramped-up pursuit by the Indiana Pacers.
As ESPN.com reported earlier this week, Pacers president Larry Bird invited Marion to Indianapolis earlier this week for a face-to-face recruiting pitch over dinner, with Indiana in desperate need of veteran help on the wing after the season-ending compound leg fracture suffered by star swingman Paul George on Aug. 1.
At a news conference Tuesday, Bird conceded that the Cavaliers were the favorites for Marion's signature, saying: "What I came away with was he's undecided with where he wants to play and what he wants to do. But he does want to play for a contender."
The Cavaliers have widely been considered to be the front-runners to sign Marion since it emerged that they're poised to complete a trade for Minnesota's Kevin Love later this month. Cleveland is restricted to offering Marion a minimum salary of $1.4 million this season after using all of its cap resources and exceptions elsewhere.
The Pacers confirmed this week that they've already been granted a $5.3 million disabled player exception by the league in the wake of George's season-ending injury suffered on Team USA duty, so Indiana did have the means to outbid Cleveland. But the Pacers would stray into luxury tax territory if they spend more than $1.7 million of that exception, with Bird vowing at his news conference that Indiana -- maintaining a longstanding team policy -- remains unwilling to be a tax team.
Sources say that Marion had been telling teams for weeks that he hoped to wind up with a championship contender if he left the Dallas Mavericks in free agency. Marion spent the past five seasons with the Mavs and helped them win the first championship in franchise history in 2011 as a key role player who guarded players at four positions.
A week before his Indiana trip, Marion traveled to Cleveland to meet with Cavaliers general manager David Griffin and new coach David Blatt. Marion and Griffin have a longstanding relationship dating to their days together with the Phoenix Suns, during which the 36-year-old made four trips to the All-Star Game.

ATENEO AGAIN

Ateneo Lady Eagles complete quarterfinals sweep to assure themselves of at least a playoff for Final Four spot

ATENEO completed a sweep of its five quarterfinal matches, downing National University, 26-28, 25-19, 16-25, 25-16, 15-7, on Thursday to assure itself of a playoff for semifinal berth in the V-League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan. The Lady Eagles, No. 6 in the six-team round robin quarterfinals, improved their win-loss record to 5-5. That record may even be enough for an outright semifinal spot if Air Force (5-4) wins on the last day of the quarterfinals over Cagayan Valley (4-6) on Sunday. Cagayan Valley could still take an outright semifinal berth if it wins by four sets or less against Air Force, leaving the Air Women and Lady Eagles to battle for the No. 4 spot. If Cagayan wins in five sets, Ateneo will take the No. 3 spot and the Rising Suns will have to play the Air Women again in a playoff for No. 4 semifinal spot. The Lady Eagles proved steadier down the stretch after a see-saw match that saw the Lady Bulldogs take the first set. Ateneo zoomed to a 12-4 lead in the fourth and went on to extend the match to a decider. The Lady Eagles never let up in the fifth, putting up an 8-3 lead and cruising to victory, their third five-set win in the last four matches. The last two sets went so quick, the Lady Eagles managed to wrap up the match in one hour and 53 minutes. The Lady Bulldogs, who had earlier bowed out of semifinal contention, wound up with a 2-8 mark. Alyssa Valdez came up with 32 points, including six blocks and seven aces, while Bea de Leon delivered a gem of a game with 16 hits for Ateneo. Jaja Santiago led National University with 18 points, while Rizza Mandapat had 16, Myla Pablo scored 15 and Desiree Dadang had 12.

An Open Letter to Barangay Ginebra
Ito ang secreto ng Talk n’ Text kung bakit palagi silang nasa Finals at San Mig Coffee noong mag-grandslam sila – everyone stuck with the team through thick and thin. Diba nga sa PBA, there’s no such thing as a weak team.
Madaling sabihin ng isang fan na, “magcha-champion kami this conference” o “magga-grandslam kami this season.” Pero sabi na sa Bible “To whom is given, much is required.” You have all the means to win a championship now.
Carlo Hizon

This 2015 Commisioners Cup may Import Height Limit ba uli?

THE NEXT MC47 AND JJ13

THE NINJA AND LEUTENANT

Isa sa maituturing na THE BEST PBA TANDEM EVER ang
tinaguriang BANDANA BOYS walang iba kundi
si Mark Caguioa and Jayjay Helterbarand , maugong
ngayon ang usap usapang THE NEXT BGSM BANDANA'S
Tenorio and Yeo.. di malabong mangyari kilala naman natin
sila at kita natin ang kanilang laro , napaka gandang pagmasdan kapag
nagsabay silang naglaro dalawa sa loob. Brgy.Ginebra Team
BGSM TEAM IS A SOLID TEAM THIS TIME!!!
